The weather here has been glorious all week. Clear blue skies and very warm. But if the forecasts are correct (and they're not always) we're in for
loads of rain next week. Hope you have a good trip.

I'm going to regret asking this
for me its probably best not too know until the last minute but......
I hate flying, really really hate it.
I have a real panic that the second leg of the journey (as you cant get a direct flight to Kef right now) ie Athens to Kef is going to be a ropey mini
prop plane. Please tell me its a normal jet.
I've been told that you cant get to Kef from Piraeus but you have to travel 3 hours to Patras. Is this true. (Just in case I cant get on the
flight)

Hi Cheeks
The flight from Athens will more than likely be on one of these.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATR-72
The alternative, as you say, is by coach from Athens to Argostoli which catch the ferry at either Patras for Sami/Argostoli or Kyllini for
Poros/Argostoli.
The flight takes a little under an hour and the coach takes something like seven hours.

Mother-in-law who has a fear of flying with anything that's got props really enjoyed it from kef to athens.. So you'll just have to bite the bullet
and go for it.. Never be afraid to try anything once..
I'm really looking forward to it next thursday, best get all my camera equipment sorted out so i can take some shots of the engine falling off!!

Thanx foir that Cyberdux
It doesnt look too bad. I probably bite the bullet. Havent booked the return leg yet from Kef to Athens depends on how ropey the plane is.
I'm just finishing my packing now.
Mondays looking good for the weather.

These planes are ok - not like a big jet but they meet CAA approval or they wouldnt be allowed to use them.
Just sit back & relax

Well I've arrived. With the plane engines intact. I don't think I'll do out of season travelling again though the journey took 20 hours unless I do a
proper stop in Athens rather than waiting around at the airport.
Its rained virtually all day upto now but too tired to care. Hopefully tomorrow will bebrighter. Argostoli looks lovelly from what i have seen of
it.
My highlight of the day was driving down Lassi main street and looking at what I had been staring at on the webcams all week.

I can confirm that Lassi is mostly closed. been to Fiscardo and its a lovely little harbour but only one bar open. The only sign of life is in
Argostoli where I am staying and there is lots of bars and restaurants open there.
Its raining agin, lots a storms last night with lightening like I've never seen. The weather isnt spoiling it at all though, having a great time and
love being here out of season and experiencing more the the real Greek way of life. Weather forecast good for Monday.
regards

You lucky devil!
I've wanted to go to Kef out of season for a few years now but the job usually puts a stop to any thoughts of doing so!
i would love to go for easter to see the celebrations and all the wild flowers which should be magnificent about now.
The thought of being there before all the tourists descend too really appeals.......................Hmm, maybe next year!
Enjoy your stay!

Weather wasn't spoiling it but earthquakes were - now back in UK - cut short holiday supposed to stay 10 days but only stopped 4- when massive cracks
developed in hotel (3 storey) top to bottom decided to leave .

Not too fussed if there's any more quakes or not.. It'll be an experience i guess..
Still looking forward to going as we get to leave the mother-in-law there this time and i won't have to keep on tidying up everything before she gets
there. Bad enough having OCD, but having her behind me desperate to clean up anything is a nightmare..

Hi cyberdux,
have a a great time its a beautiful island. The locals were saying that one that big only happens every 5 years or so so you are alrigth for a
bit.
Spoke to my friend last night who is still out there who says they were having aftershocks about every 1-2 hours through the night waking her up - but
the hotel still standing!!
