Going back home to skala :)

off back to skala after a 7 year break, and just a few quickies lol.
are the new restaurants any good and have any of the old ones got bad.
love the pines but been reading some crap reports about it, and hope vangelis is keeping the beer cold at the captains lol.
also how are things with the rocks now, is it still a nudist area.
off on the 22nd july :) and cant wait to meet up with old friends.
John

Hi John

I think you'll find a few new restaurants have appeared since your last visit :)

There's now a Chinese and and Italian restaurant, although I must admit we haven't tried either. There is also a new Pizza place which we found really good. Pantheon is also a recent addition, situated near the entrance to the roman villa. We eat there twice during our recent visit to Skala and both times the food was really good and it's in an excellent setting overlooking the sea. There is also Fusion restaurant which serves and variety of foods. We personally didn't get around to trying it but heard good reports.

There are also a good few new bars as well. Bonnie & Clydes and Michaels Bar (Michael formerly from Scandi & Times Square) which we really enjoyed. They also do food in Bonnie & Clydes which we found excellent. We did eat one lunch time in The Pines and it was good but there again we only had a sandwich!! The only bad meal we had was at La Luna (opposite The Pines). It was only a cheese burger but I can honestly say it was the worst burger i've ever tasted ..... i've had far better from the burger vans at rugby/football matches!!!

We didn't walk that far on the beach this year but I believe it's still a nudist area around the rocks.

Hope you have a great time :)

Cheers

Tracey

Well had a great time, stayed in 9 muses again and everything was as expected :) , drank in my fav bars including micheals new bar.
met up with loads of old friends and had one big chill. :D)

now the bad points, this is a greek problem and not just Kef.
the island run out of fuel last tuesday and tourist's are suffering with car hire and even got to the point of running out of fuel and getting taxi's back to the resorts, as of today 01/08/10 the blockage by truck drivers on the refineries are still in place.

the army are getting fuel to the airports and emergency services, but nothing to the garages.

hope this gets sorted soon as supplies to the shops will run out and the farmers wont be able to pick the crops.
John
